Beneath the Sea

Yay!!! Finished, finished, finished!
I have really enjoyed every aspect of making this blanket. Some squares I loved more than others but on the whole I just loved it. Even the dreaded silver yarn that so many members of the mystery blanket club detested I liked because once you got the hang of it the yarn lifted the whole blanket.
Well, it's going to have a home at our holiday house in Northern NSW as we are near the beach. Taking it down there tonight so I can't wait to see how it looks.
I have enrolled in Debbies' blanket for next year so that's it for this blog.

Mystery Blanket Almost Complete

Well today I finished sewing all the squares together and they look fab! I just have to knit the beaded borders and hopefully that won't take too long. I have so enjoyed this project and have signed up for another one next year!

Month 9

Wow we have only one month to go on this mystery blanket called 'Beneath the Sea'. I am really enjoying it and have done all the way through. The blocks are all repetative now except for the shell intarsia this month. Looking forward to next month and seeing what the centre block will be.

Only 2 Months To Go!!

I am up to date this month and just have to block the finished squares. Only 2 months to go now and the blanket is nearing completion. I think that its looking really good and I have enjoyed making it. Some of the squares are much easier and are very quick to make. Others such as the intarsia squares are a bit more fiddly using 6 or 7 different yarns at a time but still keeps the whole blanket interesting. Septembers' parcel should arrive next week!

Catching up!

Well I didn't want this to happen but I am 3 months behind in my mystery blanket! I went to Hong Kong and China on a Textile tour in May and have been playing catch up ever since. I have just done 8 days of Koala conventions and have begun some lovely textile projects but am now getting back into the Mystery Blanket. I have completed 2 blocks from the 5th month and now that I don't have any more workshops for ages I can concentrate on updating my blanket which won't take long! Stay tuned for some more photos!

Month of April

The fourth month of knitting arrived before Easter and so I had a lovely week knitting up the 5 squares. A couple of repeated blocks but that was good because having done them before it took no time at all. Another intarsia fish, cables and beads....all good!

March blocks all done!

I really enjoyed this months squares. Another intarsia knit, a fish this time. Alot of people on Ravelry were unhappy with the silver yarn knitted into the fish but I loved it! I was expecting the worst after reading the comments but it handled really well and looks gorgeous with the blue beads through it.

The other blocks were pretty easy but interesting. Textured stripes and a cable knit and a repeat of the coral and beaded lace square. Exciting to see it grow now and take shape!

Blocks from 2nd months package

I have had such fun knitting these up and since finishing them over a week ago haven't been inspired to pick up anything else. These are just 4 from 5 blocks and I think that the stripe with the sequins is my favourite!

Month 2

My second months package has arrived! I am keeping up well so far and have begun the squares for month 2. I am loving the Rowan yarn and the beads and sequins to be knitted into the squares. Unfortunately my camera does not do the colours justice! Pretty sure that this years blanket is a nautical or beach theme.

My Parcel Has Arrived!

So excited! My first parcel arrived this morning and I just can't wait to get started. 7 balls of yarn all Rowan and 2 packets of yummy beads. This is the first Mystery Blanket which I have done designed by Debbie Abrahams. I think that this is the third mystery blanket which she has designed. The project is 10 monthly installments and so hopefully by Christmas I will have a completed blanket. As the months go on the theme will be revealed. I think I have an idea already but you never know!
